Margie Lee Holmes

ELKHART, Indiana — Margie Lee Holmes, 85, of Elkhart, went to be with her beloved husband, Raymond, Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born July 5, 1927, in Union County, Ky., to George W. and Laura A. Gibson.
She married Raymond Lee Holmes on Sept. 22, 1943, in Dixon, Ky.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Lee (Susan Jane) Holmes and Ronnie (Susan Kay) Holmes, both of Elkhart; two grandchildren, Heather Lynn Holmes of Philadelphia and Brian Lee Holmes of Elkhart; and a great-grandson, Michael James Schmucker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lee Holmes; a son, Raymond Douglas Holmes; three sisters; and eight brothers.
Margie retired from Whitehall Laboratories Inc., where she worked in production for 29 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling by RV all over the U.S. They also traveled to Japan, Mexico and Canada and cruised to the Bahamas and Hawaii, all the while collecting rocks.
Family and friends may call for two hours prior to the 2 p.m. service Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Elkhart. Pastor Jamie Hart will officiate. Burial will follow in Olive (West) Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
